Tom Box, who previously served as SPU’s Athletic Director and prior to that as SPU’s director of development, has been named vice president for university advancement.

During Box’s tenure in Athletics, five Falcon teams were national runners-up, including the women’s cross country squad last fall. Individual athletes also excelled, collecting 14 national championships during that span. Box played a pivotal role in the formation of the Great Northwest Conference in 2001, of which SPU is a member.

Prior to becoming athletic director in 1998, Box spent nine years as SPU’s director of development. He managed the development staff and was responsible for the $1.2 million annual fund, as well as researching, cultivating, and soliciting new donors. Initially, he came to SPU in 1980 as director of management and budget.

Lynne earned her B.A. from Seattle Pacific in 1976 and joined the University Advancement team in 2000. After 5 years as administrative assistant in the Alumni Office, she made the transition to the office of the Vice President.  Lynne brings to her position experience as an elementary school teacher and 10 years as children’s ministries administrator at her church.  She and her husband, Ken ’77 have three grown children.
