2014: A Blueprint for Excellence - What Happens Next? |

As we conclude the overwhelmingly successful Campaign for Seattle Pacific University, there’s a temptation to slow our pace and revel in what has been accomplished. But in spite of the new buildings and programs we’ve created, the success of this campaign cannot be measured by what’s behind us. The Campaign is signifi cant because of what lies in front of us: SPU is now positioned for the future, poised and ready to become a premier, national, Christian university. And for this we express heartfelt gratitude to our donors.
Building on our heritage of excellence in Christian higher education and the success of this campaign, we now unveil 2014: The Blueprint for Excellence, a bold plan which casts SPU’s vision forward 10 years. We are driven by our clear and compelling vision to engage the culture and change the world through the transforming gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe that the words Christian and excellence go together, and we aim to provide an educational and faith-shaping environment second to none.
We are well on our way. This year we have pressed ourselves to focus our energies and resources. We have defined our distinctives — a critically important task which demonstrates that we know who we are and what we do. Our vision is unique in higher education, and we know that we are called to carry out our work with excellence.
In order to become a premier, national, Christian university, we must transform our resource paradigm. We need to broaden our base of support, increase our endowment, grow key academic programs, and carefully manage costs. We must also work to increase the perceived value of an SPU education. Our visibility, reputation, and recognition must be very high, and we will launch a new positioning strategy to help us achieve this.
These are ambitious goals. But anchored by our vision and motivated by our call to excellence, and building on the success of The Campaign, we will move boldly forward into the next chapter at Seattle Pacific.
