INVEST IN SEATTLE PACIFIC

My name is Olivia Lenz, and I’m finishing my sophomore year at Seattle Pacific University. I’m majoring in chemistry and minoring in clothing and textiles. I’ve loved every minute of my time here. SPU has made a huge difference in my life. Let me tell you how.
My story begins in small-town Ellensburg, where my two sisters and I grew up. Dad works for Puget Sound Energy, and my mom is a kindergarten teacher. I started classical ballet at the age of two. (Mom always says I was dancing by the time I could walk.) Growing up, I poured myself into school, dancing, sewing, and 4H. In high school, I discovered I liked science and math, and I took as many courses as I could in those subjects...

My name is Melyssa Norris, and I am a senior music education and vocal performance
double major at Seattle Pacific University. From the moment I set foot on this campus, I
knew SPU was the place for me. I came because of my two passions: music and
teaching in a strong Christian community. I’m a member of the chapel worship team, sing
in the choirs, and play in the Thalia Symphony. I cannot begin to describe the support and
encouragement I have received from the faculty in the Music Department. They truly
believe in me!
I felt academically prepared to attend Seattle Pacific after succeeding in Advanced Placement classes in high school and participating in Running Start. My SAT scores and grades were strong. I also had the full emotional and spiritual support of my family and church community. They nurtured me and encouraged achievement...

My name is Rebecca, and I am a sophomore at Seattle Pacific University, majoring in education. I’m just back from seven weeks of teaching in Hyderabad, India. I went with a team from Seattle Pacific Reachout International, or SPRINT. This was a short-term mission opportunity offered by the University. Each year, multiple teams go to far-away places.
What an experience! I was able to be part of bringing God’s love to a poor and suffering place.
The first three weeks we taught in three Christian schools in the Hyderabad area. All of the children were amazing. I would have loved to gather them all up and take them back home with me. The majority of the students in the Good Shepherd Schools are Dalit. They are the poorest of the poor, and complete social outcasts. You may know them by their other name: “untouchables...”

My name is Edward Blair. I was that high school freshman and I’d like to share a bit of my story with you. My memories of SPC (now SPU) are a treasure for me. I was active in music and sports, playing center for the SPC basketball team as well as tennis. I was also student body president. But it was the work of the faculty in the classroom that set my feet on the path that the Lord had prepared for me.
In my day, names like Moyer, Ashton, Marston, Beegle, and Watson were more than buildings on a beautiful campus. They were the mentors and teachers and family that poured themselves into our souls. I can close my eyes and see and hear them as few living today can. With the help of SPC President C. Hoyt Watson, I received a generous scholarship to attend the Biblical Seminary of New York. It was at seminary that I met my wife, Vivian. From there we went on to Yale and a fellowship in Biblical archeology in Israel, to teach at Garrett Theological Seminary for 29 years, and to write...
