The Wellspring Society

The Wellspring SocietyThe Wellspring Society at Seattle Pacific University honors a special group of individuals who are partners with us in planning for the future. By designating Seattle Pacific a recipient of deferred gifts through their financial or estate plans, these thoughtful friends provide a dependable stream of support for our mission — and a legacy of love in keeping with the rich meaning of “well•spring (noun), a source or supply of anything, especially when considered inexhaustible.” We pledge to use each of these future gifts to help us graduate students of competence and character who will engage the culture and change the world through the transforming gospel of Jesus Christ. If you have planned a bequest or other future gift to benefit SPU, please let us know so we can include you in upcoming Wellspring Society events and extend to you our thanks. Please contact the Seattle Pacific Foundation at (206) 281-2702, email us or join today.

Danna Davis

Read Danna Davis, a Wellspring Society member's, story:

Danna Davis is the only living person to have completed first grade through college graduation on the Seattle Pacific campus, where in 1924 she feels she got “a good start.” She is understandably proud of such a rare accomplishment. “There were five of us once upon a time.” The campus elementary and high schools provided a place for teachers-in-training at Seattle Pacific College to do student teaching for certification. At the time, public schools didn't accept student teachers from private religious colleges or universities.

Perhaps of all the satisfying aspects of Danna’s life, two dearest to her heart are the Joseph L. Davis Scholarship Endowment (named after her husband who was a beloved professor of religion at SPU for 33 years), and her charitable remainder unitrust. “I receive two incomes from SPU

for the properties I donated. That makes it possible for me to live where I do,” says Danna. “The way I look at it, why have a retirement fund if you don't use it to change the world when you're retired?”
